Does anyone know people that are having elk problems, or idea's on who I could get a hold of with information. ...I got drawn for this unit..... any help would be greatly appreciated. .thanks
-
I pm'd you the hunt masters info.
-
That should get you dialed in.
I normally have about 300-400 below my place and this year there has been nothing, just a few here and there. I am wondering how bad all the cow tags this year really affected the herd.
-
You wouldn't by chance be referring to this hunt, would you?
-
You live up in that area Ranier10?
-
Yes that's it...I use to think that hunt was in Ellensburg but it's listed 328-368? I'm calling tomorrow morning to find out.Use think I knew the rules but i don't have a clue with these definitions on the boundaries. ..

What does "HC" mean?

Not sure that's why I'm calling the man with the badge. ..just to make sure... last thing i need is a ticket.

Which part is unclear?
"This is a damage hunt administered by a WDFW designated Hunt Coordinator. Successful applicants will be contacted on an as-needed basis to help with specific sites of deer/elk damage on designated landowner's property. Not all successful applicants will be contacted in any given year, depending on damage activity for that year."

Thanks I knew that its the boundaries i have a question with...I got the go ahead today just thought it was in the Ellensburg area only.
-
I'm still confused why you are asking if anyone knows people with elk problems.
-
I totally agree with you. ..thanks for the information I appreciate it
-
I am confused also. If you got the go ahead today from thr hc they would have provided you with the landowner who is having problems. As far as i know you just cant go out and shoot an elk

:yeah: :yeah: :yeah: :yeah: :yeah: :yeah:
You DO NOT get turned loose to go hunt elk on that permit. The Hunt Master would only call if there are problem elk IN A SPECIFIC PLACE that need to be pushed out.
I assume you are a Master Hunter, but if you go hunt this w/o the Hunt Master (And get caught) you will be permanently removed from the Masster Hunter program....... Zero tolerance within the Master Hunter program for hunting violations..

Well guys heres my personal expeirence with this hunt from a couple years ago. Once I got called the HC said I could go up without him after the day he took me out. Not saying that was right but that is what he told me. So I guess make sure of the rules before he tells you stuff.

I have a cabin above it looking down towards Ellensburg, Wilson Creek/Reecer Creek area.
-
I have seen the Hunt Coordinator a couple of times with hunters. I have never seen guys hunting this permit without the coordinator with them.

I agree with your statement - it is more accurate than mine.
But, I don't think he'd ever call and just turn a guy loose on the Fairview hunt without taking or pointing the person to the problem area.
