Title: Books/dvds
Post by: Blsum on January 12, 2016, 08:19:25 PM
So for my birthday the girlfriend got me an amazon gift card. I was thinking about getting a bit of reading material or possibly a dvd or two. I was wondering what everyone would recommend for instructional material. Are there any books or dvd that you would consider a must have for a beginning trapper like myself? Anything specifically for cage trapping?

Gary Shuman has a pretty good dvd called The Rat Race is I remember right that has a ton of trapping with colony traps in it.  It's a good watch plus Gary is a very entertaining guy.  Mercer Lawing has some good dvd's catching cats in cage traps.  Also Kirk Dekalb Owner of Advanced Trap has a lot of good stuff on youtube.  Almost forgot Jeff Yancy.  I don't know if anyone sells his stuff anymore but you might be able to find one of his dvd's on ebay.

There are a lot of good DVD's out there.  If you want a couple of good ones I would recommend

Gary Schumann's "Rat Race" which is muskrats trapping with colony traps.  He talks about how he caught over 60,00 rats in 20 years.  Watching it he is trapping in ditches with hardly any water and coming up with 3-4 rats in a trap.

His other DVD is called "40 cents and a weasel"  pretty cool way of trapping weasels.
I like them both and there informative.
