Title: Snowshoeing
Post by: 4T on January 31, 2016, 07:51:33 PM
Who snowshoes?  I have kinda got into it a bit this year. I bought a cheapo set but should have looked into them a bit more. I'm really just wanting to day trip and not wanting to do to much real extreme terrain, what is a good shoe to get?  Any in particular to stay away from?

We have done it for years on elcheapo ATLAS shoes. Never broke one. Kids sizes up to my 36"shoes. When I was 375lbs, I wore them and they took that massive load without breaking...

The MSR Denali is a discontinued model, 100 bucks at Campmor. They work great, lightweight, you can add a tail to them if you are going to be in lots of powder. I used them last week near Waterville to get into an area that otherwise I would have been floundering in break through crusty snow.
