Title: 17 hmr

Has anyone ever used one for coyote hunting?  Feelings on them, and what's range on them. I just bought one, bored, at Cabelas in post falls. The guy running the counter wasnt super informative about it.

I have killed two with mine. Both did not know what hit them. Dead before they hit the ground and no pelt damage. They explode inside. Longest shot was about 100 yards. The other was about 40 yards. I think if you call them in close it is a killer but limits your range. Most people will say no way!  But I have shot em with .223's and a .280 and had them spinning circles  before they died. These two were dead on their feet.

I've got a Savage 93R17 Laminate Thumbhole with Bull Barrel, caliber specific  adjustable turret scope, that has dropped several out to the 150 range, no issues, fun little gun.

I'm going to sight in this weekend, I knew I wouldn't be able to go out far in range so I didn't see the need to splurge on a scope. 100yds is close to what we shoot dogs at, so hopefully I'll be happy. I was using a270,which got expensive.
