Title: Sonic Cleaner
Post by: Wazukie on February 01, 2016, 12:23:14 PM
Looking to buy a Sonic Cleaner to clean cases and gun parts.  Any recommendations?   I've been looking at the Hornady LNL Sonic Cleaner II.

I can't speak to the Hornady, but about a year ago I bought the harbour freight one for like 30 bucks.   It looks EXACTLY like the Lyman one that retails for $100 or whatever.  Infer what you will from that.  I don't use it all that often, but it seems to do a pretty good job with dirty brass and gun frames.  Of course, I don't have much to compare it with.

Whatever you get, a couple things to remember (sorry if you know this already):  it will strip EVERYTHING from a frame, including the oil that you want to keep, so things will corrode if you don't get something on them quick.  It will also strip / weaken some finishes, so be careful what you put in.

I have the Lyman sonic cleaner. Works great. I don't use the sonic cleaning solution tho. I use lemi-shine and a drop of dawn. Like said it can and will strip everything including finishes

Harbor Freight or ebay.   Mine was from ebay.  Don't let your wife see the cleaner or she'll set it aside for her jewelry.

Another vote for the Harbor Freight unit.
Being what it is, I also opted for the extended warranty.
Does a great job on pistol and rifle brass!!!!
