Title: Tc black diamond. Minimum muzzy load for deer
Post by: kenzmad on February 07, 2016, 10:31:14 PM
My daughter is small. 4'9" 80 lbs. i have a tc black diamond, 24" barrell for her. What would be the minimum load for whitetail deer for her? I run 130 with a 390 grain bullet for deer and elk. She will just be hunting deer outta spokane.

I would go to likea 250g grain bullet and see what it will shoot best with. I know guys that only run 90 grains of powder and kill plenty of deer and several elk with a little less powder and velocity.

Hornady XTP 45 caliber bullets, 240 grain, with 80 to 90 grains of powder.

Go with the 200 grain bullet, it will work just fine for deer.   I shoot the 250 for deer and elk it has proven to be very deadly.  Start at 80 grains of loose powder and work up till you find what groups best.  The difference in 80-100 grains of powder will not have a noticeable difference in recoil....at least that was my experience.

The 45 caliber bullets would require a sabot.
