Title: USA Today Poll on 2nd Amendment
Post by: Jekemi on January 27, 2009, 09:57:45 AM
Please vote on this gun issue question with USA Today. It will only take a few seconds of your time. Then pass the link on to all the pro gun folks you know. Hopefully these results will be published later this month. This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners with the Supreme Court accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms.

First - vote on this one.
Second - launch it to other folks and have THEM vote - then we will see if the results get published.
Vote in the USA Today poll - click on the link below.

The Question is:  Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?

I voted. It is overwhelmingly in support of the individuals right to bear arms.

So DC is going back to court to challenge the courts decision in Heller v. DC that the individual has the right to bear arms?

"This upcoming year will become critical for gun owners with the Supreme Court accepting the District of Columbia case against the right for individuals to bear arms."

This is the Heller case and has already been decided by the Supreme Court.  The Poll is from Novemeber of 2007.

That explains it. I didn't think the SCOTUS would agree to see a case that they already made a decision on.

not with the current mix of justices but as soon as Obama has a chance to nominate a justice the ballance will shift and the decision is in danger of being reversed. This is what we need to be aware of. We must remain vigilent or our right to own and bear arms will be severely limited. Anyone who doesn't believe this is the case is smoking something or incredibly naive.

Dave isn't it likely that the next U.S Supreme Court Justices to retire are going to be liberal ones, so in reality they would not gain ground.

We had our chance to have our voices heard during the last election.

We failed miserably.

If we have people in the outdoor community still voting for Democrats after all that we see around us, what chance do we have?  From the environmental nuts that no one is standing up to to the hard core Socialist who don't even have the courage to level with the American people what they are really about, they are chopping our once great country to bits.  Everyone just wants to play nice and get along with the liberals.  We are in the fight of our lives for our country.  Isn't it time we stop playing nice?  I know the liberals haven't been playing nice for a long, long time.

These misguided idiots are still trying to prosecute Bush as we speak.  The head of their party is Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.  By supporting any Democrat, you are infact supporting these losers.

These morons have been playing games for years, and are on the verge of destroying what is left of our country.  Care to stop playing nice with these nuts?

300UltraMagShooter:
Well said. The time for uniting together and standing up for our Constitutionally guaranteed rights is NOW! Little by Little the anti-gun nuts will chip away. Look the appointees that BHO has made so far - most are viciously anti-gun.

If every hunter and gun rights advocate would oppose these tyrannical zealots we can make a difference. Otherwise, you can stand on the sidelines and watch your rights wither away.

Remember: The purpose of the 2nd Amendment is about opposing tyranny, not about hunting or range shooting or anything else. The Bill of Rights will fall without the 2nd Amendment to protect those rights. This Republic is the only nation that contains "the individual right to bear arms" in its Constitution. IT'S THERE FOR A REASON!

I am a member of the NRA as a start.  Joining advocacy groups is but a start, but you need to support them, and you should send letters and emails too.
