Got my 2015 bull back from Black River Taxidermy. Full disclosure: Joel ( the owner) is a good personal friend and hunting partner. The hunt for this bull embodied nearly every aspect of a perfect backcountry hunt to me, ( a guy can always ask for a bigger bull :chuckle:) and I knew I wanted to mount this one when I walked up to him. Joel being new to the taxidermy business and never having mounted a bull before, knows I am a bit of a taxidermy critic and we are very honest with each other about expectations. He offered to do the work, but was very gracious and understanding if I chose to go a different way. In the end I decided to take a leap of faith and after discussing options chose to go with a 90 degree turn and he modified the head of the form to a very similar pose to just before I let the arrow go. Well, I picked him up last week and any worry I may have had was eliminated as I am extremely pleased with how he turned out! Mind you this is the second full shoulder mount bull he has done. I have no doubts they will only continue to look better as he is very attentive to details and always working to improve his finished product. Thanks Joel and BRT!
