The lower river I believe closes April 9th, and that's right when it starts getting really good, I would try for the latest dates you can get.

Later is definitely better,usually the fishing gets really good and they shut us down within a week or so :bash: it is maddening to say the least.somehow im just happy if i get just a couple springers a year
I don't even bother trying until the very end. There's a few fish around early but I don't have any interest in lucking into a fish once every 5 trips.

I would fish with Toby muck, sidewinder charters. 24' covered/heated north river sled. He fishes the cathlamet area.
I went to school with Toby, don't know anything about his fishing. Have not seen him since high school. But know he is a good guy.
