i currently use a 7 foot medium actin ugly stick. does the job. but toying with the idea of upgrading to something nicer. what do you got?
-
I'd stick with that one. :twocents:

if it's a trolling rod it should do okay. Just about anything works for bottom walkers and trolling plugs.
-
my favorite walleye rod is an old fenwick FS79C. super soft action to keep from pulling the hooks out.
-
anything with a soft tip for bait, rigging or pulling harnesses will work. Same for pulling cranks. You want that rod to load up, give the fish a chance to turn before there to much pressure. I like a fast action for pitching jigs. Picks up the slack faster. Very important as they almost always bite on the drop.
-
yeahhhh its mainly used for trolling bottom walkers... might just leave it and not waste money.

I actually really like my Berkeley lightning rod. Cheap and real sensitive.
-
I run 3 rods for walleye.
For dropshot I run a Fenwick ETW72M FS. Very light and very sensitive which you need in a finesse set up.
For draggin spinner rigs and slow death rigs, I use an old 6'8" Shimono Convergence baitcaster with a medium action and softer tip.
For jigging, I use a 7' Berkley Series 1 rod. If I break either the Shimono or Berkley rods I will have to start the search again too as neither of those rods are made anymore.
A baitcaster for draggin will not be that hard to find as just about anything with a softer tip will work. While the Berkley Lightning is not bad, it's not quite what the Series 1 is, but would still probably would work.

I have a pair of Gary Roach series Lightning rods by Berkley. Love these. I have Quantum bait caster on one and a Abu Garcia on the other. Bottom bouncing or trolling plugs, these thing are awesome.

Granddaughter picked me up a Loomis for Father's day a couple of years ago. Amazing jigging rod I think you could count the teeth in a wally with it.
-
6'6" whuppin stick is a good choice. All i use anymore and i walleye fish more than most...

If you're bottom bouncing, the cheapest of bait cast reels will do. I'd spend all the money on the rod. I've used several with success, but nothing compares to the Loomis walleye harness rod. The sensitivity produces more fish. :twocents:
