Title: Need New target
Post by: Huntlots on March 27, 2016, 01:48:28 PM: Went out and shot a few groups today was pretty windy but good practice. Needing a new target mine getting pretty worn out. what's everyone using I have the black block and it's help up pretty good so far but need new one.

Post by: Lucky1 on March 27, 2016, 01:57:13 PM: I have a heavy duty cardboard box filled with crumpled up shrink wrap. It works great for field points. Arrows come out pretty easy. Lasts forever. Just change out the box when it wears out. I have mine under a cover to protect it from the rain. I have a separate target for broadheads.

Got one over at my brothers that i put some used carpet inside to line the sides with then filled with all manner of used plastic and hung between 2 fence posts. The carpet helped keep the burlap from getting too shot out too quick and it also helps keep the plastic in.

To the OP, I've been very happy with my Rhinehart, though I don't shoot as much as I should.

X2. I've had my Rinhart Target for 3 or 4 years and have replaced the core once. If you throw a wooden frame together, you can elevate the target a bit. Additionally, by attaching some scrap carpet pieces (two deep) you can create a bit of a safety net for errant arrows (not that I ever miss, lol).

Post by: lokidog on March 28, 2016, 08:35:11 PM: If you do the carpet, only attach it at the top. If it is pulled tight, the arrow can go through it much more easily than if it is floppy. I watched a show where a billowing silk cape stopped arrows from old timey Chinese bows.
