-
tree pitch from branches I bust off.

I did with anise 1 time seemed to work,I ended up getting a few coyotes with it and i got my bear while using it.1 drop in a 32oz. spray bottle.

I take cedar and fir boughs, lay 'em on the lawn and run over them with the lawn mower with a catcher bag. Take the clippings and put 'em in 1 gallon paint strainer bags. I like to get at least a half dozen bags done then I put my hunting clothes in a big garbage bag with a bag of clippings. I put a bag in my truck, camping trailer and trailer closets. I try to do this at least a month before the season. Refill as needed.

I hunt in a lot of cedar swamps about ten days before season I cut a bunch of kindling and put it unscented bags with all my camo works well
-
I take fir needles, mash them up and place them in the bottom of a vacuum sealed bag that I store my hunting clothes in. The smell of the needles permeates my clothes and seems to have worked well over the past 20 years or so. Once in the woods I also break up fir or pine needles and rub them all over my face, arms and hair.

I have a formula that I have been using for about 4 years now and I really believe it works great. It is a combination of 3 or 4 different hydrosol's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbal_distillate. Cedar, Pine, Fir and Yarrow. In my opinion its the Yarrow plant that sets it aside from anything else I have ever smelled or used. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achillea_millefolium It grows over most of E. Wa.

I've always thought of making my own out of the tree limbs and such of the area that I'm hunting in, but never got around to it. What works best for me is spraying down with scent eliminator, and throughout the day while I'm hunting, I grab a bough and rub it all over me.
-
I use the plants in the area where I am hunting, usually sage it helps that I like that smell so crushing the leaves and carrying them in my pockets is fine by me. I do this when scouting and wandering around in the woods as well.

I usually use a can of Dinty Moore beef stew with Nalley Onion Chile. Seems to do ok.
-
And throw in some shredded cheese and tabasco sauce. :chuckle:

I used vanilla extract back east for whities and it worked well as a cover and attractant. I haven't used it out here.

Silently waiting for someone to say
"Just pee on yourself, it works for the big bulls"?

I believe I remember you yelling in the middle of the night, in your own tent, for Pete to pee on you to cover the beer stank at elk camp, or something like that.

:yeah: I thought vanilla worked good. I could get close enough to poke them with a .30-30.
