Title: Tick control
Post by: Emptyhanded on April 05, 2016, 04:20:14 PM
Well, the ticks are out in full force. I have pulled 3 off of my lab in the past couple days. My question is what have you guys found to be the best way to prevent them? Tick collars? Frontline? Other products? Any input is appreciated!

Frontline has worked well for us, we have found ticks on the dogs after being in the woods but have never found any that latched on. Nephew found 3 on his lab this weekend that had been there for at least a week I think he said they used Advantage which apparently didn't work to well for him. For the Human side of the family I treated a set of clothing with Sawyers and didnt have any issues this weekend in EWA

Also this topic comes up just about every year around now so if you want to read some older threads do a search there should be plenty of reading material.

I have used K9 Advantix for the last 4 years and have never had a problem...  I did this weekend have one come home with me on my hat that found later...

I use Nexgard on my WPG. She's a tick magnet! The ticks die when they bite a treated dog, and then you can just brush them out when you get home.

I tried Advantix and Frontline with no luck.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll just give one of em a try and see if it helps.
