Thought it might be fun to run this for the season and see what kind of lunkers folks are landing?!
How about 5lbs or better for largemouth and 4lbs or better for smallmouth?!
I'll start it off with my 6.5lb largemouth from Lake Terrell in Whatcom County today....caught several others but this is the only one that qualifies.
Have fun out there and tight lines!!! :fishin:
-
That's a dandy.
-
Thanks!
-
Nice toad! I hope I get something to add to this thread this season.

Nice...Squatch....you ever want to trade trips...crabbing for a morning of bassing we should talk.

Uh, YES! Ha ha. I may have some vacation coming up in two weeks, should be pretty flexible during that.
When is crab open? My wife would flip if I brought some home! She loves shellfish!
-
Crab opens after July 4th. I grew up in the Midwest chasing bass, gills, crappie, and cats. Been awhile since I had a bait caster in my hand but I'm in.
-
As a bass fisherman it is my responsibility to own enough fishing gear for five people :chuckle:
I can set you up with very capable spinning gear very easily if you prefer?!
-
Uh...no. I expect a plethora of rods geared up. We need to scream from end to end of the lake and make figure 8's with our rod tips underwater before hoisting a big ol 1 pounder towards the camera.
-
I hope some of you guys will share lure and tactics along with your picture of your whopper bass... perty please :-*

Here is a couple my son and his friend caught last weekend !
-
Caught this largemouth yesterday on a 4" Senko rigged wacky style. Caught nine bass total, all the others smallmouth including a three pounder.
-
SAWEEEEEET!!
Good job guys  any weights on those dandy's?!
-
What are you guys hooking them on on the west side?
-
Jigs are hard to beat in March and early April, but once the water temps break into the 50's just about anything will work through April into mid May and up to the spawn. Depends a lot more on the weather swings and how it affects the mood of the fish.

Nice haul Kopperbuck! What tourney? 2 place with 19lbs is crazy!!! An 8lb largely though is quite the bag boost!!

If that is the case then you've been fishing in my spot! :chuckle:
I always am suspicious looking at eastern Washington bass background, lot of similarities in landscape through the east!

Local club - wish I could tell you the name but we just heard about the tourney and signed up that day. Launched out of Boardman. We're looking for something where we can fish as a team rather than a draw but it doesn't sound like there's anything locally in OR. Might check out NW Bass - heard you can fish teams but would be a lot of new water for us.
-
Dandy bucket mouth and crappie Cory!
-
He did it again yesterday! 21 inch 6 pound 10 ounce!
-
Finally! Thought I jinxed myself by starting this thread?! :yike: Been slamming 4lbers but didn't break 5lbs again until today when I pulled these three out! :IBCOOL:
-
Nice work! you know, I lived and worked on the Westside for a few years and never could connect with a lunker from the few lakes I hit..... well done!
-
The fishing has been good lately smallmouth were 5.3 and 5.4. Largemouth were 5.9 and 5.12
-

These may not qualify in the lunker thread :dunno: but I got about a dozen like these last week ... Most were fooled by a pro senko rigged wacky with out weight or drop shot also got a few on a shakey head.

Damn nice smallie!

:yike:
dang nice one.

any of you giant bass slayers fish the mason county area? I know a few little lakes that hold some 10 plus pound bass, I work on a lot of the lakes every year, have no desire to learn to catch them.
-
On the list  :chuckle:
I may hang up the hunting thing this year so will have more time to bass fish in the Fall?! I love fishing the east side in September and October! I looked at a few lakes over in the Mason area 10 years ago but never made it past the Potholes/Seep Lakes area. North of Spokane holds some excellent lakes as well, I may head back over there in October for a week or two if I don't draw a permit...

Years ago I went with a friend and fished a bunch of little lakes in mason co. ... The only one I can remember th name of was called jiggs lake :dunno:
-
Soooo, not pin pointing any particular lake, does a guy aggressively change up his gear for fall bass? I've always been intrigued with fall bassin' for many reasons but is there a tactic?

Not really a change so much as being versatile. In the Fall the bass are on just about everything eating just about anything to fatten up for the Winter! If it looks like a good place for lure x then throw lure x, if you're throwing lure x and see something that lure Y should work in, then take the time to throw lure Y through that area. Pattern fishing doesn't go out the window in the Fall but multiple patterns can emerge on the same lake in the same day and at that point you are in bassin' heaven!

Finally! She barely made it but she counts she counts!
-
Nice! I was just thinking about this thread wondering how it was out there. I am working out of town and haven't had a chance to get out. Slay on.
-
You haven't missed much, lot's of post spawn males to be had but the females are suspending for the moat part. Not to mention the large spike in forage with all the fry balls everywhere. Should pick back up in a couple weeks. Small baits will work well for about the next month
-
Nice bass everyone...I have had fun with the bass this year, but have not got one big enough to post! Bait swarms were all over last week. Walleye are on the back burner for a while, I want to get a bass to post on here!!

Try downsizing right now guys, you might be surprised at what will engulf a 2 inch Rapala?! I was on Potholes Res post spawn two years ago and got blanked until I started drop-shotting with a friggin' tiny little crappie tube.....bang bang bang, smallies up to 4.4lbs, like I unlocked a vault! It was crazy.
1/4oz buzzbaits, spinnerbaits (even Beetle Spins), smaller Rapalas etc.. OR next time you see a fry ball throw a 1/2oz spinnerbait past it and retrieve up to it then burn it right into the ball and stop it dead, a lot of times there's a large bass following the ball of fry and they can't handle that attack action! Keep at it, I look forward to your posts

Caught my personal best yesterday afternoon on a Senko texas rigged! Only hit of the day!
-
Caught my biggest bass ever last night. Didn't want to pull her out of the water and couldn't get a picture... How is that for a fish story? I would say she was probably about 13# but again, she was thrashing something fierce and I didn't want to hurt her by pulling her out of the water
-
Congrats!
Except for the guy with no photo.....pic or it never happened, please continue to the Bigfoot thread with those stories :chuckle:

Starting to get the fishing bug again. I've been out to Flowing and lost lake a few times now (mostly trying to get used to launching the new little boat) and have caught quite a few dinks. It was interesting to re-read this thread and to see bassquatch mention small rapalas because that is what I have had most my luck with. Also learning the rubber bait techniques has been fun, and again caught some dinks doing that as well.
Look forward to going out again this weekend and if i get lucky I'll post pictures.
PS. It's surprising how many trout I have caught on that darn rapala too...

Keep at it! Flowing is a good jig lake. Try 1/4oz up to 1/2oz in black and blue or green colors, use a trailer that doesn't overpower the hook or jig.
-
Got a little closer to picture time at flowing lake this evening. Still got a ways to go but I'll get there.
You know what they say about dog butts and sunshine...
Nobody else has been out?
-
Hitting 3's for largies and haven't been out for smallies in a couple weeks. July things should settle in and summer patterns will be upon us
-
Finally!! 4.4lbs on Lake Whatcom today! So many near misses the past few weeks....
-
Wow, beautiful! I hit one of my all time favorite mill ponds last weekend. Didn't catch any whoppers but they were all consistent 1-2 pounders, very healthy, very fat and lots of them. They loved the crappie jig spinner with a little pumpkin colored crawdad jig 6-12 inches under water. It was super fun... I know, I should have taken pictures

Wow. That's a pig for sure.
-
Yep, that's a moose largie!! Shouldn't be considered out of reach though....several similar lakes to Bosworth that have produced near record to record toads!
My biggest concern is for that lake. That lake is SMALL and the parking very limited, not sure how all the attention now is going to affect it? My hope is the homeowners don't get fed up and petition to close it....

That was my first thought as well :(

I'm back!!! Got on a decent evening bite last night and managed this 6.2lber! Lost one about 5lbs just a few casts later. May be the last for a bit as I lost reverse in my truck backing into the garage grrrrr
-
Nice fatty! How were the weeds? I've often heard there's a lot of good bass fishing to be done in the fall.
-
Weeds were fine here but a couple of my lakes are carpet right now!
-
Got this gal today, 7lbs 8ozs
-
Wowee! What's your fall tactics if you don't mind me asking. I've always heard fall bassin' is good but most people are doing other things (like hunting) by then to take advantage of it.
-
Go vertical! Moving baits will get hot for a few weeks then things will slow down and the jigs and slower moving baits will come back out.
My #1 lure this year has been a swim jig with any color matching 4" swimbait as a trailer. It has been responsible for multiple 5lb+ bass this year from March to yesterday!
I'm about to be reminded of what type of bass fishing I have missed the past 15 Octobers as I am not hunting this year....well at least not hunting land critters
-
Thanks for the tips. Happy fishing :hello:

23+ pound bag from tournament on potholes this year in September. big fish in the picture is almost 7
