Help needed....Not looking for anyones secret spot but My son is at WSU and has got the spring fishing bug, can anyone pm some ideas to help him get his line tight and head on right, between his girlfriend, hunting and fishing I don't know if he will every graduate.... :bash: Thanks in advance.

I know there are a couple of places in Lewiston and Clarkston where people fish for cats from the shore on the Snake. Still kind of cold for that. You should also PM fishingfool. He lives in Clarkston and was very kind to my daughter and me when I went over to see her one time. Great guy.

Kids that Fish go to Eastern, and that is why kids a the Zoo drink there is no fishing in the wheat fields :sry: I went to EWU and spent more time in a float tube than I did in class

Rock Lake is about the only game around. I don't think the water is warm enough on the snake for any shore fishing. If he drives another 30min he can be at Williams in 2 weeks for planters

Plenty of fish to be caught in the Snake. Springers are coming as well.

Guy I work with likes to hit Pampa Pond before it gets warm.

If you are into bass, the snake is loaded with them. I know people that did very well in the spring. Springers are coming as said above. And there are steelhead in the snake, clearwater, and ronde from October until it closes.

Haven't been there for a while but just 40 minutes to Lower Granite, cross the bridge SE Shore.

Hit up the Snake River for smallies. Anywhere there is structure along the bank you will catch fish. Curly tail grubs on a jig head or crank baits. And they are pretty decent eating this early too.

Small and large mouth can be had around wawawaii park. Walk the tracks towards the dam and fish the ponds as well as structure in the river. Lots of fish.
Spring Chinook on the snake down at lower granite. The opportunities weren't as great when I attended, but I understand it can be pretty good down there now. Additionally, springers on the Clearwater are great biters, and a non-resident fishing license cam be purchased from the tribe that allows you to fish mUchiha of the river above the casino with 2 rods.
Steelhead in the late summer/fall/winter can be caught in the snake, clearwater, and ronde. Starting in September and fishing well all the way through March.
If he just wants to drink beer and enjoy the sun, I have caught some nice sturgeon down below lower granite.
There are a ton of options, and most opportunities are a 30-40 min drive. We used to fish the evenings after class all the time. Hope he enjoys it! I love it over there

The Palouse river is full of fish when we are over there in the summer I'm sure they are there now . Tell him to find a bridge or two an take a look . The fishing can be awesome !

I do miss being over there. I remember catching fish and having fun at Wawawaii park, catching carp, bass and catfish. Trips to Amber lake and another lake that I can't remember the name of but it had a lot of Lilly pads and boat rentals. I don't think it was too far from Amber. That lake had so many different species of fish in it you never knew what you were going to bring in. Also trips to 4th of July lake and hiking all over that area. We had many adventures on the Grande Ronde as well for bass on fly rods. Definitely a lot of options.

THANK YOU for all your tips. I have to hope he can find a good balance between school and fishing. At least we have something in common. Its more fun talking about knots and lures then grades and taxes.....They grow up to quick.
