Title: Here's one for you guys.
Post by: Smossy on April 25, 2016, 09:33:10 PM
So Im in the understanding the rule of thumb for arrow length to draw length is AL approx = or + 1/2inch of DL.
Also to try to keep the arrow = to the shelf of the riser.
Im just interested in everyone's opinions... but - My question to you guys is:
Even if your trying to keep your arrow = or + to your riser shelf, that leave's sometimes 1 1/2 - 3" of arrow sitting beyond your actual arrow rest, depending on the brand.
Would you or have you guys cut back shorter to put your insert point 1/2 - 1" beyond your actual rest?
My only real concern with going real short is broadhead clearance, and safety. Id hate to get a finger removed. Now that I ever have them out like that anyways.

Mine is out past my rest by 1". Just cut one of your arrows down and try it. I really liked how they shot!

I'm a 27" draw shoot my hunting arrows at 28"  lots of clearance for me but I'm on the edge of my arrow being to weak.  Depending on what now I get to hunt with this year I may get an inch chopped off all my arrows and shoot them right at 27".

As long as you have clearance between your broadhead and riser it doesn't matter all that much.

I'm shooting 30"arrows out of a 30"draw broad head is normal 1 in front of the rest.

My arrow broadhead clears my riser by 1/2".  The only hang up I have, is I can't shoot guillotine tipped arrows unless I have an arrow longer than the rest....which I don't
