I purchased one of these units as well as an earpiece / microphone setup so I will not have it squacking out loud in the woods when talking to my hunting partner. I'm wondering what setups work for others that use this type of gear. Where do you attach the GPS unit? Pack shoulder straps, pack belt, cargo pocket? How do you route wires so crap does not get tangled up in them? Any input would be appreciated to limit my "trial & error" efforts as I start doing training hikes with my pack in anticipation of the season start.

Do you have issues with your touch screen?

I hook mine on the strap that you flip together across your chest between the shoulder straps. I don't use an ear piece but with the radio right there I can keep the volume very low and still hear it. I can also just tip it up to look at the map without having to take it off either.

I do the same.
Hints...
Forget the head set. Use text message to contact and than adjust volume as needed.
Lock screen or changes when walking.
Re calibrate after you change batteries.
Get the AA battery pack.
Put a screen saver on it.
I wrapped the Antena with reflective tape for easy find in the dark.
Put a address label on the battery pack in case you loose it.

vandeman17 & ghosthunter - Thank you very much for the tips. That makes a lot of sense
trophyhunt - the touch screen concerned me when I bought it as well but my hunting partner uses one and he claimed it's the only way to go. I wanted the ability to contact him and upgrade maps from my 10 year old unit. So far the touch screen works fine but my testing ground has only been the harsh environment of my living room. Just got it last week. Here's to hoping she works as advertised for the price!

I've never had any issues with my 655T on the touch screen aspect.. I've had it since they first came out an still works good.. Wish I had used a screen protector but it's a little late now.. One thing I will say is in my opinion the radio has something to be desired.. There waterproof no doubt but the speaker can fill full of water if your in some real heavy rain an make it impossible to hear anything or talk into it. An it's been proven amongst me and 4-5 of my buddies as we all have them. Also my "ptt" button that you press to talk into the radio on mine his messed up. Doesn't work all the time.. I called garmin about it thinking they would take care of it an they were kind enough to let know it would be about 160$ to have them "fix it" which they just send you a refurbished radio. So again a little less than impressed with customer service. Just my :twocents:
