Taxidermists,
I'm in the middle moving and I'm in need of temporary storage for several mounts and rugs while I build a new house. I'm guessing they'll be in storage for at least 12 months. What things should I consider when choosing storage for the mounts? I'm hesitant to rent a storage unit for fear of something happening to them. I've considered borrowing some shop space from friends, but I'm worried about humidity. Is heated storage an absolute necessity? or would a little moisture and temperature variation from a shop ruin them?

forgot to mention that I live in coastal western Washington...I'm sure that matters.

The big killers on mounts are moisture, sunlight, and smoke. So as long as you store them away from those elements you will be fine.

Might add rodents!

:yeah: And typical storage units are infested.

Had to put my mounts in a storage unit, I don't have any mounts anymore. Rats

Maybe see if a sporting good store would hang them up and show them off till you get your house done :dunno:

Thanks for all the bad news guys... :chuckle:
Maybe I'll see if my mother in law will hang them in her house...(insert fart noise). The search continues...
