My wife shot the buck of a lifetime last fall it Scores 211 5/8 net. Good luck in the draw.
After watching deer rut on a distant ridge for several days we decided to get closer to the action. As we started our hike we spoke to 2 other hunters with similar plans. When we reached the far ridge the other hunters were across the canyon to out left as we checked the location of several does we did not want to spook. Soon our friend hunting with us spotted a buck and declared "shooter". When I got my binos on the buck I thought it was a 28 inch tall heavy buck. Definitely a shooter since we only had 2 more days to hunt and the best buck we had seen yet. I ranged him at 423 yds approaching straight at us. Extending the bipods on her gun we advanced towards the buck. As he crested a rise 200 yards away we got set up for a shot. My wife had trouble finding him in the scope and when I looked up he was about 100 yards away and the 10 inch drop tine was obvious with my plain eyes. Of course I exclaimed "look at that dropper" which didn't help calm anyone. As the buck angled left he disappeared in the tall sage. In a panic I hustled our trio down a trail to cut him off. As it opened up there was no buck. Frantically searching we advanced but still not buck. Where could he go I thought, just then Jason said he's to our left. The buck had crossed a steep ravine and was going up the ridge away from us. As I urged her to fire my wife struggled with the safety and trying to hold up the gun. Jason extended my bogpod tripod and I set it up for her. I grunted desperately trying to slow or turn the buck and at the last minute before cresting the ridge he hesitated allowing her to drop him with a high shoulder shot at 123 yards. I yelled excitedly he was down. Jason had been watching it all through his binos and said he was a monster with in-lines and cheaters. As we approached the downed buck he continued to grow. My wife even let out a squeal of delight. Soon the other hunters arrived saying they had watched the event unfold. They were very nice and we appreciate their sportsmanship. We shared info on a good buck on the ridge and later they harvested it. This buck exceeds our expectations but shows that great bucks can be harvested in Washington by anyone. Special Thanks to Jason and his dad for their friendship and the memories to last a lifetime.

Thank you all. We are blessed. Yes it is a Washington buck. The story is in the Feb/Mar Mule Deer issue of Eastman's hunting magazine. There is also some more pics in the 2015 buck section here on Huntwa.

Awesome!!

That buck is unreal.....
I honestly don't think those pics do it justice.
I feel so fortunate to have been able to put my hands on those antlers (Thanks for stopping!!). They have some of everything that's cool about deer antler: Height, width, mass, stickers, drop points, palmation.
I don't get Eastman's magazine, but I will order that issue.

Just so everyone knows this even though this buck looks massive in the pics they do not do it justice. This is an absolute monster. As much as i wanted to head home with that buck is was so cool to watch and im glad she was able to put her tag on it. I remember walking up and asking "Is it as big as he looked" you simply replied "Bigger" after looking down. I always love meeting new people on the hill and thanks for the heads up on the other bucks you had been seeing. This buck came to us with the information shared by this super cool group of hunters.
-
I got to hold an ogle her buck yesterday. Yep, pics do not do it justice. Super awesome buck and it is too bad that it had broken off so many cool extras.
-
Thank you Throttle it was great meeting you and your Dad. We appreciate your sportsmanship. Congrats on the great buck your Dad shot. We would have been proud to harvest the buck you guy's got too.
-
Fingers crossed for my tag next year lord knows i should have enough points!!

That was a fun hunt. I can't wait to pull the tag for myself.

Good luck in the draw.

Beautiful Buck, both of them. Love that drop tine and the kickers. Hopefully get a tag myself this year with my 15 points. I don't put in for this unit though.
Good luck to all in the draw
