Title: Skookumchuck Youth Deer Permit
Post by: Gentrys on June 10, 2016, 01:47:36 PM
Well, after 7 years of applying for various tags, my 15yo son finally drew not one, but 2 youth permits this year.  Go figure!  Anyway, he drew a Skook any buck tag for Oct 8th - 31st.  We generally hunt Whitetails outside of Spokane for the general deer season, but since this tag allows him to hunt a week before gen season opens, so we'll take advantage of minimal hunt pressure and spend some time in the Skook unit.  Already looked into the Vail permits only to see they're sold out.  Any advice on general areas?

It's too bad you can't get a Weyerhaeuser permit. There really isn't much accessible land other than that.

You might check out the National Forest along highway 7 on the east side of the Skookumchuck unit. Or highway 508 west of Morton. It's just that they haven't done much logging in recent years.

Also maybe Weyerhaeuser will allow the youth permit holders in that first weekend, they have done so in the past.

Pretty sure they let the youth permit holders in the first weekend
