We had a good draw on Friday 3 cow tags for the Taneum. Be hitting the hills in a couple weeks to start scouting the area. Learn a bit more of the country and possibly find a good spot to camp. Pick up the map from my dad today and start picking out some areas to look at in a couple weeks. Plan on going over the 25th and 26th. :IBCOOL:

Which weapon? I filled the modern tag last year, now my better half drew the muzzy cow tag with 1 point this year.

Sweet.

My dad and I drew muzzy cow tags. Maybe we will see you in there

No elk in the taneum solved way them all. :stirthepot:

Modern tag sorry. My dad drew last year and didn't connect so he put in with me and the wife this year and got it as our 4th choice. Make a fe trips over this year and learn the area more and hope for the best.

Just ordered my Taneum map tonight. Was hoping to go scouting this weekend but plans have changed. The wife's dad passed away this last Thursday in Idaho so we will be making the trip back to Deary for the memorial. She got to say goodbye to him thankfully in the hospital in Lewiston before he passed.

Have you had any more time to scout the area? We took a drive up there yesterday to look around and get a feel for the areas. My wife liked the eastern part of the unit better than the thicker, steeper western part... we both have muzzy cow tags.
-
Which part of the unit were you planning on hunting ? I've been hunting there my whole life and also drew a cow tag. The westerner half is super thick but still holds elk. Alot of e roads to the higher elevations are overgrown now so expect to do some serious hiking. It's almost easier to get in from the Nachese side but if you can get there there are elk. I've never hunted the eastern part but I've heard there's quite a few elk there too.

Steep dark and deep. By the time your tag starts the elk in the eastern half will have been run hard for a week. And they won't stop running for a week after the season. Get into the big timber and move slow, look listen and be patient.

Hey guys were planning on hunting the Eastern part of the unit unless we aren't seeing anything then moving. Been dealing with the loss of my wife's dad so I haven't even had a chance to hit the hill. Back and forth trips to Idaho all summer this was our last trip of the year so now hopefully we can do some scouting and look for a Bear.
