Title: Hunting close to camp
Post by: vandeman17 on June 13, 2016, 06:24:50 PM
Just curious how close do you think is too close to camp to effectively hang a stand and hunt? Reason I ask is we have nine acres and with my out of state schedule, I might only have time for a few weekend hunts at my property. I would probably be able to dash from work Friday, get a quick sit that night and camp for the weekend. The best spots where I get the most pics and activity is under 1/4 mile from my camp spot. I am worried that my camping there would spook them and mess up the hunt...  :dunno:

That's my idea but just worried that my scent and activity from being in camp might mess with their routine.

I hung a game camera off the back of camp last year, did not check on it for the first 6 days of the season. The best deer I saw the whole season were on the camera 25' from the door the first four days of the season.

Hunt where the animals want to be.

Over the years we have killed 20 deer and elk with in a half mile of camp.

If they want to be there , the camp won't stop them.
