Gotta have pics or it didn't happen :bash:

Ever caught one like this? Yes it did kill him. Still not sure how it caught him like that but I hope he died quickly🍻

:yike: nope

We moved into our house 3 years ago next month. This year is the first year I've seen rat droppings on the deck. We have some bird feeders hanging out there (just moved them). Is this a particularly bad year for rats?
I had evidence of them in my shop, but not in the house. Being that they are just outside, I'm sure that they will get inside eventually if they aren't already. I'm going to check the attic tomorrow.
Is there any good resources out there about rats in Western WA, or are rats just a normal problem for a house in Snohomish county that was built in the late 70s?
-
It's a bad year every time we have mild winters we have rodent problems including rabbits it's kinda fun to trap them
-
I've not seen any evidence of them in the house, so any trapping I do will be outside for now. I'll have to be careful not to trap any other visitors.
-
Get some bait boxes and put snap traps (with peanut butter on em) in your attic/crawlspace (wherever the problem exists)

2 Rats for me
Trapping your two nudist neighbors doesn't count...and we don't want pics of that

Big dude!

 Where did you get a live trap that small?
-
I have one about that size from harbor freight. It needed some modifications to actually hold anything but it does work. And under $10.

If Jake is trapping his nudist neighbors, there is nearly an endless supply. Better get more traps.
-
I use old school wolf control methods...ie poison, at least out in my trapping shack (mini shop)...
I do have some sets up in the attic I should check though...this could be fun.

Anyone ever live trap cottontail they are doing a number on my garden

i have trapped plenty of feral rabbit. Carrots work well as does a salt lick zip tied in the back of the trap

I meant Bearhunter's neighbors but clearing out the nude rats at o'l Lake Bronson wouldn't hurt...

The trap is 17 inches long and 6 inches tall/wide
http://www.havahart.com/x-small-1-door-trap
It's the only thing I've found that'll catch wood rats. I've used victor rat traps (all sprung, bait missing, no rat) I've tried the tomcat rat snap traps also (sprung, no rat) then finally these live traps and been catching them good.
I was surprised they were able to trip the tomcat and not get caught, buggers are super fast.
-
My marten cages are just a hair longer WOW wood rats are pretty good size

The neighbors have "bird" feeders. We don't, but we have a garden shed the animals seem to like for shelter.

2 eastern gray squirrels
1 opossum

I hope to be adding to my count soon. I've had to use a bb pistol lately and missing some prime targets.

:IBCOOL: :yike: never seen a Albino norway rat before. Caught this one last night in my havahart and landed a normal one this morning. Going to tan the albino one and use the other one for a dirt hole coyote set. Sorry didn't take pictures of the other one. :chuckle:
-
That's cool looking! I work tomorrow so hopefully I got some in the traps
-
On that rat, I notice it has dark eyes. So is it really an albino. Maybe just a white rat someone turned loose.
I hope Willard doesn't find out you killed Socrates.
-
:chuckle: I forgot about that old flick

Dang that trap did a number on his head.

Those Tomcat traps work good ! I'm gonna have to step up my game I haven't caught jack
-
I had one of my old customers call me back, their not happy with the other company they had.
Seems like they couldn't catch this critter............they were trying to catch ....... never mind I can't tell you it makes them look real bad.
I set out two small cage traps and had this guy the next morning.
Its a "Bushy-tail Wood Rat" or better known as a "Pack Rat"
Kind of a cool looking critter.
JC :hello:
-
 I've seen them all over on this he dry side but never on the wet side . Where was it caught?
