Title: New 338 bullet to test
Post by: yorketransport on June 19, 2016, 10:38:17 AM
I picked up a some new bullets to test in the 338s and I think I found a keeper!

Left to right: 300gr Berger OTM, 277gr Cutting Edge MTAC, 307gr Hammer Hunter, 6.5x47 Lapua for scale

The 307gr Hammer needs a 1-8" twist for optimum stability at sea level but will still stabilize in a 9-9.3" twist with enough velocity and elevation. I'm going to test them in my 338/408 rifle and in the new 338 pistol. I'll post results as I get time to shoot them. I planned on going out today but I had a brake line rupture on my Silverado last night while pulling my boat! :yike: Fortunately it happened in my driveway while parking the boat and not while out on the road.

When I said it needs to fit in an AI mag I meant the loaded cartridge, not just the bullet.
