Title: racoon feeders
Post by: idaho guy on June 28, 2016, 09:50:41 AM
Has anyone built a raccoon feeder? just looking for ideas and something that would not get demolished by bears. Just doing some homework not sure if we can do it in Idaho but I will find out.

Trap a coon give it some anti botics and fatten it up for a couple weeks on sweet Cobb. I know of a couple guys who swear by it best meat around they say. Only thing is you have to be careful with there poop and keep cage/pen clean.

I just use 5 gallon buckets, with a 2 in hole in it. Fill it with all stock and tie it to a tree. I don't put them out when the bears are out, I don't think you will keep a hungry bear out of much.

Huge fine and is a misdemeanor charge....speaking from experience here.  :)  Plus I think he looking for a coon feeder to train young dogs off of, not to fatten up the coons for eating.....if I'm right.

**************** :yeah:

Ya I am just trying to keep some coons around to hunt with the dogs this summer now that bear season is over. We have shot a lot of coons and I have heard they are good but I will never eat one! ha ha . I will try the 5 gallon bucket that sounds good. I think you are right if a bear finds it he will destroy it regardless
