Title: condensing the homebrew trailcam knowledge base
Post by: bigdave on February 04, 2009, 06:52:04 PM
OK,

I've got this crazy idea to condense the vast amount of knowledge available from the members about HB trailcams. There is a lot of info spread through the 30 page homebrew thread but it is cumbersome and time comsuming to sort through. I thought I would break it down but I am a relative novice at all this and don't want to give out erroneous info. So I thought I would create a series of posts that would be added to by you all and together we can create something that a newbie can go to and get their questions answered. I will take a lot of the info that Bob has supplied in the 30 page HB thread and also you can add your experience and ideas.  I'm thinking maybe 6 seperate threads:

Part 1......Why build a Homebrew Trailcam?

Part 2......Parts, Tools, and Cost

Part 3.....Hacking the Camera

Part 4.....The Case and Other Necessary Hardware

Part 5.....Board settings, Camera settings, and the Layout of a Successful Trailcam Set

Part 6.....Camera Security

I am open to any critique of this idea. It is dependent on your input. I will wait at least a day before I start another thread so lets hear your ideas.

Thanks,
Dave

PS..... I sent a template to rick, neil, tom and steve they went in the mail today. Baseballstud20, I have one for you as well. PM me and we can get together for the hand off. Olsy, I can get on for you too.

I was starting to think the same thing...it's a great thread but it takes a long time to go back and find details latere.  Great idea!

That would really help the beginners like me.  I'm just starting to get the pages memorized where Bob's posts the 'how too information'.

Yea when you start combining the different things like cameras, front mount sensor vs. rear mounted, routing the wires, etc. It all get jumbled up.
