Title: Crazy day with a sour taste in my mouth
Post by: rosscrazyelk on July 14, 2016, 04:53:39 PM
I left my house at o dark thirty . Got about 5 miles away only to remember my binoculars and food are on the counter.  So I turn around to get them.  The first 3 hours of my hike  was in the fog, I could only see 20 yards. I saw two bulls staring at me in the fog. It was cool.  Around 11 it started  to clear up. I finally got to my first camera only to have the lock not  open. No clue as to why.  I am going back with bolt cutters.
Hiked to a location in wanted to put a camera  up. I get there only  to find out I forgot my extention to the socket wrench  so I can't lag bolt my box to the tree. .
On my way to another camera my boot lace snaps. Stop to repair that. I finally get to the camera and see something weird . I can't post  my phone pics so Josh is going to be kind  enough to post  it for me.  Anyway there was a knife behind my box. Looks like they tried to pry it off the tree only  to break the knife.  Lol. They deserve that.  Pieces of *censored*. But then left it for me to see...
Because I can't get my socket  to take out the bolt I need to leave  it for now and hope they have not come back.
My plan was to stay out all day till dark but with  the way the day is going I figured I better get off the mountain before I fall off. To add insult to injury I call the wife to let her know I an coming  home early.  She says great.  Her sister is coming  over for a visit and for dinner we were having her homemade soup and grilled cheese.  When I get home they are in the back yard.  No dinner in site.  They already ate and had nothing left. . Are you kidding me. ..
Well that's my day

Ross, When I have a day that goes so bad I don't know if I'll survive it I just go buy a lottery ticket. I figure with all the bad luck some good luck has to be right around the corner!

That's very odd that someone left their broken knife between your camera and the tree.  :dunno:

I wondered where I left my knife....

Kidding of course, but I do think it's funny that they lost their knife.

I hipe you got their pic!

I find it more odd the old lady didn't leave some soup and grilled cheese for you after your hike? :dunno:

Even though  I am still irritated  about it. She meant to say they ate grilled  cheese and soup already.  But the text did say dinner is. Not dinner was. .. I could of stopped somewhere and had a burger and beer instead of trying to get home at a reasonable time for dinner.  Oh well

I suggest getting back out there. Chances are you camera is on the top of this crooks list to steal. Hopefully you got his pic.

Either that or someone found the knife then found your cam and stuck it behind your cam thinking you dropped it so he's giving it back. Idk if they were really trying to steal it you'd think he would either take his broken knife or chuck it. Not leave it behind the cam. Who knows.. Kinda weird

I'd get a real lock for that box, the ones that block out a pair of bolt cutters.

I THINK IF DAMAGE WAS THE INTENT THAT KNIFE COULD HAVE LEFT LOTS OF SCRATCHES ON YOUR CAMERA. I THINK THEY ARE TRYING TO FREAK YOU OUT, SO YOU MOVE IT.
