I'm about 50% certain this one is legal in a spike only unit but thought I would check with the experts...

-
				Choot em!

-
Legal in spike only and illegal in true spike.  :twocents:

-
I hope see one like that this fall on the eastside! Killed lots of westside branchers over the years but never a spike, goin eastside for the first time this year

-
I could be wrong but it looks like it splits near the top on both sides.

-
Tbar, did you circle Bigfoot?  think your seeing the other side, enlarge a straight on pic, only a spike on L side, legal bull in spike only unit IMO

-
Heh, thanks for the input guys.  I don't think it branches there based on other pics I have.  I'll just ask him if he is legal or not once the season starts.

So your saying this is a spike only and ethical kill?

				no for true spike

True Spike - Bull Antler Restrictions: Neither antler of bull elk taken in GMUs 251, and 328-335 can have branching originating more than 4 inches above where the antlers attach to the skull. Under the true-spike restriction, taking an elk that has two points on one side or antler points within one inch of the definitions regarding length of point, or point of origination, is an infraction under RCW 77.15.160. All other types of violations of the true-spike restriction are subject to current penalties and assessments under RCW 77.15.410 and 77.15.420.

 yes on spike only units

Spike Bull Antler Restrictions: Bull elk taken in spike-only game management units (GMUs) must have at least one antler with no branches originating more than 4 inches above where the antler attaches to the skull.

Yes there is and it is where we hunt by ourselves. That bull looked like one my father in law missed last year.

-
I'd shoot either of those bulls in a Spike only unit (not a "True Spike" unit.)

-
I saw one of those back when the rules changed  in 88 I think I passed because I didn't know the rules since then ive  seen 2 -3x1  both long ago eaten

-
3 years ago I got glimpse of a bull in lick creek that I would bet a paycheck, I was 89% sure he was a 1x6 mature big boy. It was crazy. I remember putting him in glass (200 yds) and telling my partner (while giggling) "you gotta look at this bull, he's like a 1x6"
My partner didn't bother looking, just grabbed his gear and took off and said " dude, he's legal then".
 I was like "uh?"
It didn't even cross my mind, because over there I see branched bulls and I know I can't shoot em.
We never caught up to him again, but I still think back and laugh about that moment. Might be a thing were you had to be there, but still funny

Saw a bull with nine points on one side and broke off on the other below the eye guards once that would have been a legal spike.
