Title: Tying bulls to trees.
Post by: WAPITIHUNTER on February 06, 2009, 09:08:55 PM
Found two nice branch bulls today when I got home from work. They were all of 400 feet from my trailer. Also had a spiker come through back when it snowed and several cows still hanging around. I am super thrilled to see the branch bulls. That is the first time I was able to see them in the winter.

I guess I can't really tie them to a tree but knowing where they are all year long is about as good, I think?

Here is a pic of the spiker. Sorry for the hazyness, they were taken through the window.

No! :bash: :bash: :bash: I just walked over to see what kind of junk my neighbor dropped off recently and low and behold the elk were standing 30 yards from the end of the trail. One appeared to be small 5x5 and I didn't get a good look at the other one. They will both be decent bulls this year. Licking my chops already. :chuckle:

Ah big old Rosies.  He looks like he's in good shape too.  Last summer I was walking my dogs on my uncles ranch near there and my wife and I saw two really, really big and tall spikes about 50 yds away.  They could have cared less.  They probably died if they were that dumb.

Speaking of tying up elk a distant cousin of mine roped a six point off a horse with a couple of his buddies.  They roped it around the neck and then the back feet.  They chocked it down and pulled the head rope off.  When it came to they slacked the heel rope and the bull ran away.  I saw pictures of it and im still trying to get ahold of some coppies.
