Title: Anyone fishing Nisqually?? Only open until 8/31?
Post by: cavemann on August 08, 2016, 01:46:57 PM: what a mess this year has been with the regs.. I didn't see any closures when the nets are in and it close 8/31? Anyone fish it and having an luck?

for the last 15 or so years, i haven't usually started fishing it in earnest until around the 10th of august. peak is last week of august-2nd week of september, at least unless the muddy glacial melt makes it through alder lake to the lower river and shuts down the bite. of course they're closing it down "for the silvers", which is BS because the river has historically never had much of a silver run anyway.

this might be the first year i haven't fished the nisqually, and i've been fishing it since 1989. with everything else shut down, it's sure to be a freak show once some fish show up in numbers, and i just can't get worked up to bother with the droves of idiots that park their cars on the edge of the river and don't leave a spot for us guys that launch our boats.

Post by: cavemann on August 09, 2016, 10:36:40 AM: thanks for the update guys... I'm going to give it a shot late this week. Nets are in and have been since Sun. It will be interesting to see how big the crowds get. I have a spot or two that i can get away from them a little.
