I found out that if you need it or might need it, if it is avaiable grab it. I usually go to the Dalles Ore to get my stuff at BiMart. Went over about two weeks ago and they did not have anything I needed. So the wife and I went to Kennewick to Sportsman Warehouse. Huge store. They were almost wiped out. They stated that were not sure when they would get what I needed. No rifle and shotgun primers. No Winchester AA 12 gauge wads. Not any of the shotgun or rifle powder I needed. So today I went online to Cabelas. They had everything except the IMR4350, GreenDot powders. I put in an order for the other stuff. This is getting to worry me.

I dont kno wthe details but I heard that a powder silo blew up or go tdamaged or soemthing. Not sure if it will have an affect on reloaders or not.
Maybe its all going to the UN so they can disarm America...
Reloading stuff has been hard to get for a while now. I was going to get a couple hundred primers for pistol, but 1 store, 2 stores, 3 stores dont have it. The fourth one I went to had a whole carton, so I bought it all. I have been reloading off that and its time to get some mroe. I guess ILl ahve to start trekking around to get powder and primers... Luckily I have about 10,000 bullets from trading stuff, I just need to get 10,000 primers and enough powder lol...

sorry I was talking kennewick, they had 3 boxes = 300 rounds of hornady ammo total. Terrible

Agreed, I'm running across the same thing. I went to Joes on South Hill and they were pretty much empty. However, if anyone is looking for GreenDot they had about 8 canisters on the shelf. They only hand one canister on a handful of others.

Another factor in this is that it is coming up on inventory time. Lots of retail places of all kinds are drawing down on stock so they don't have to pay taxes on it. My wife works in retail paint and she says it is a more severe draw down on stock than last year. I guess the vegetables at the corporate level are being more aggresive about it because of the economy.

I'm looking for CCI 250 primers and quantity and Reloader 19, 1 or 5 pound cans. If anyone comes across this stuff PM I don't want you to post it to the site it will be sold before I get to it. :chuckle:
-
when I got mine today they had 5 thousand. I picked up two thousand and the others were gone in ten minutes. CCI is about the only primers that you can buy right now.

I was at Cabelas today and was just checking but they had RL-19. I picked up a 1lb the last time I was there and was ust curious today. If I had know about your post before I went I would have picked it up for you. I doubt its there tomorrow there were guys asking about powders that were waiting behind me.

Sporting good stores around here have had a crappy stock for a while now. I can never find everything I'm looking for so I check a few stores at least once a week. I've been able to stay stocked up on what I use but its been a pain in the arss.

I think i might have some 4350 stocked up alanger........I might have to go down and check her ein a bit

Teacherman,
Check online for the powder, it is available, you just have to pay hazardous shipping on it.

I finally found some 4350 last night. I am so stoked. :IBCOOL: And wondering if you can replace small rifle primers with small magnum pistol primers, or if it would be better just to use large rifle primers.

no, no, and hell no... use what it calls for

may I ask why, doesnt seem like there is much difference in the small primers. I use pistol powder in my small rifles anyway. I have never tried but I was asking because I read it, I think in the speers book a while back.
-
Im too chickend to try stuff like that lol. It would have to be in a Speers or other reloading manual for me to try it. I value being able to pick my nose with my fingers lol. I wont do it, and I wouldnt recommend anyone else do it unless its written and tested by a manual. I never use info off the web either unless its off the manual or manufacturers website.
I saw a post on here where someone told the other person to put in x amount of powder, then do something else, then fill it the rest of the way up with powder. THey meant fillthe rest of the way up with corn meal or filler, but made a type. That could have been a costly typo if you were reading the instructions.
Dont want to sound likea wanker but safety rules are there for a reason, so are the reloading data guidelines. If I had to do it for whatever reason Id be a little nervous at first, it might be alright but I am not the one to test stuff like that out. Ive shot mag primers in my standard 38 loads but I didnt go to max to do it to start with. I was a little nervous. It was no big deal on that one. I would suppose that it would depend on the max and how close you may be to the lower or upper end of the min and max.

Kesselrings had 18 - 1lb cans of H4350 on Sat...and HAD 6 - 1lb cans of IMR 4350. but they were kinda skinny on stuff too.
