I don't want this post to turn into a gov tag bash I just wanted to see if anyone else saw the gov tag bull at the Portland show. I was expecting it to be more massive than it was I guess. It is no doubt a great bull and I won't take away from that but the mainframe is nothing special just lots of points to bring up that crazy score. The pictures I had seen of it made it look way bigger so I was expecting more of a wow factor when I saw the mount. A beautiful bull for sure but some of the big straight 6x were more impressive to me personally. nwhunter

Its a toad thats for sure.

How many BIG bulls were at the horn show?
-
I didnt see it on thursday, saw lots of monster bucks though.
-
I saw that bull at portland today and wasn't that impressed either. there was a dandy 350 bull out of lewis river though, anyone know about that. there was a lot of big bucks, a couple 150 blacktails.

You did not snap a picture and post it?

Yes, I want to see another pic of the "not so impressive" new state record elk.
-
I didn't have my camera but did take a phone pic but have no idea whether that could be posted or not, I sure can't . I'm not saying the bull isn't impressive , don't get me wrong its a beast , I just had in my mind big long main beams that were whale tails and wide and he doesn't have that. nwhunter

No one took pics of these critters? WTH?
-
I didn't take a camera guys sorry. I do know the kid who shot the first place buck that scored 150 P&Y. the only thing is he is half indian and i am sure it wasn't taken with a bow, ya know what i mean. I can try to get some pics in the future.

I was at the show today and couldn't help but look at that bull... I agree, it doesn't look anywhere near as big in person as it does in all those pictures floating around on the internet!!! They did a good job at sitting back and figuring out the right angles to make it look big... Either way, it's a nice bull and a ton of points on that thing!

what a bull!! looks very nice to me, I think we are all just a little green with envy.
-
Actually the main frame 6x6 looks alot like my bull but my fronts and thirds are longer.
-
its definately a great lookin bull
-
;)

Yes, great looking bull, saw it last Wed. The Main frame typical 6x6 would have put the score around 350 to 360 gross, from what an individual insinuateted that was along with the hunt.

Makes sence, my fronts on my bull were longer and mines 367 gross.

Not sure about the comparisons, but its my understanding this bull scored a net 375 1/8 on a typical 6 x 6 frame and had 61 3/8 of non-typical points, thus the final net B&C non-typical score of 436 4/8.

Sure would like to see a score sheet on that badboy just to put things into perspective. Wish I would have gotten down there to see that bull in person. Wonder if Mr Agnew would let me stop by to drool over his collection. I love that Monster 6x6 he killed off the San Carlos, that 66 inch beam is amazing!

While his collection may be great, I have no respect for "trophies" bought like that. Yours is a true trophy, as well as many of the critters killed by our members.

I'd have to agree. :yeah:
-
i like the backround advertisement
-
Man that thing is nice.
-
seems like the portland show get alot more animals in that competition

Sounds that way huh...Wish I would have made the trip down there. :(

From what I heard there wasnt much for big bulls in the competition?? How was the blacktail comp??

The bull's score sheet (plus a good article on the spider bull) appears in the new issue of Hunting Illustrated...I know its available at some Fred Meyer stores but not sure where else.
