Title: Saw the gov tag bull @ Portland
Post by: nwhunter on February 08, 2009, 03:12:22 PM: I don't want this post to turn into a gov tag bash I just wanted to see if anyone else saw the gov tag bull at the Portland show. I was expecting it to be more massive than it was I guess. It is no doubt a great bull and I won't take away from that but the mainframe is nothing special just lots of points to bring up that crazy score. The pictures I had seen of it made it look way bigger so I was expecting more of a wow factor when I saw the mount. A beautiful bull for sure but some of the big straight 6x were more impressive to me personally. nwhunter

I'm not saying the bull isn't impressive , don't get me wrong its a beast , I just had in my mind big long main beams that were whale tails and wide and he doesn't have that. nwhunter

I do know the kid who shot the first place buck that scored 150 P&Y. the only thing is he is half indian and i am sure it wasn't taken with a bow, ya know what i mean. I can try to get some pics in the future.

I agree, it doesn't look anywhere near as big in person as it does in all those pictures floating around on the internet!!! They did a good job at sitting back and figuring out the right angles to make it look big... Either way, it's a nice bull and a ton of points on that thing!

Makes sence, my fronts on my bull were longer and mines 367 gross.

Post by: Legacy on February 10, 2009, 09:12:25 PM: Not sure about the comparisons, but its my understanding this bull scored a net 375 1/8 on a typical 6 x 6 frame and had 61 3/8 of non-typical points, thus the final net B&C non-typical score of 436 4/8.

I love that Monster 6x6 he killed off the San Carlos, that 66 inch beam is amazing!

While his collection may be great, I have no respect for "trophies" bought like that. Yours is a true trophy, as well as many of the critters killed by our members.
