Was out looking for deer today in the 448, and walked myself into an interesting situation. Going from one clear-cut into another through a 60-70 yard wide stretch of timber on a logging road. Just walking along, not really marching with purpose, but definitely not sneaking. About halfway through the timber when I heard something up around the corner where it opens back up into a clear cut again. After stopping to listen to it, I realize it's someone predator calling. It's immediately apparent it's a foxpro or similar setup. This sound as though it's 100 yards up the road to the left. Then, I hear what he's calling at, roughly 40-50 yards ahead a little off the path to the right. Given the amount of thrashing around there was, I can only assume it was a bear. I listened to the bear for about 10 minutes, hoping to get a glance of the bear as it crossed the road ahead of me to check out the caller. Once I decided I needed to move out so I didn't spook the bear off, I backed out. The guy with the call ran a couple different distress calls back to back and the bear went silent. Overall was a cool moment, despite being almost in the middle of it.

Was waiting for a deer down text. We saw the two bucks sparing on the hill side along 2. Other than that not much. Stubbed my toe today on.....yeah.... an ax. Split the end of my big piggie a bit, just to the nail. Mr Irish Death soothing me. Dont think im heading out tomorrow, maybe.

I was up in 448 mouth calling around 11 this morning. Had a good bear give me a glimpse just long enough for me to flip the safety off, then he was gone.Tried to call him back with a cottontail distress to no avail. That dang bear has given me the slip two days in a row now. I got some good footage of him yesterday when i first spotted him at about 1200 yards out.

I was out today for a while. Like another thread on here, lots of berries and no bears or sign. I'll hit it tomorrow again.

Took the boy out this evening, had two something's coming in, but they hung up. Heard some yotes a ways off, saw some elk and a good lighting strike.

Went back out today. Only saw a doe and fawn, and am starting to think I'm a bear turd bloodhoud. Can't find deer to save my life, but everywhere I go, I'm finding fresh bear sign.

Sounds like you might want to put the Fiskars down and go buy a dull axe that won't cut so nicely...
Be safe there H20. perhaps consider steel toe boots...

Well now, that's an inventive way to hurt yourself with an axe. LOL!
