Title: How accurate are the WDFW Go hunt maps
Post by: Billy74 on September 13, 2016, 07:13:12 PM
I've been looking at the WDFW go hunt maps for pub land and have some spots I want to check out but I want to make sure they're accurate to a reasonable degree.  Should I double check with another source and if so what would that be?

They are accurate with the exception of occasional closed roads that are shown as open and vice versa.  You only find that out by going out and scouting the area.  I've not been that happy with the printed versions scaled down to 8.5 X 11, but you can't beat the price.

I couple them with ONX and Garmin Bird's Eye satellite maps. Highly recommend the ONX Hunt Map. Worth every penny.

Sometimes the feel free to hunt sites are not up to date. Some land I know of was on the go hunt maps for 2 years after the program ended

Accuracy is dependent on two factors: the accuracy of data they receive from various sources, and how often it is updated.

There is no guarantee it is 100% accurate, as ownership could change 10 minutes ago. For the most part it is reliable enough.  It is nice to double check it against another source.
