Made it up to camp all set up. Going to head out in a bit to listen for Bulls. 5 days of listening is going to drive me CRAZY!
Anyways the warning is that if you come through the gate at Joe Watt watch out. There is one hell of a wasp nest in the hinge side post and they are pissed off! They followed me almost hundred yards past the gate swarming the truck and trailer.
I'll keep updating what I see/hear.

Good luck!!

Good luck I seen a nice heavy bull come out of there last year with a muzzy tag.
-
Got on to my first bull today. 9:30 am. His bugle was a short mild two tone with a little bit of crack in the pitch of his voice. What does that bugle mean? A locate I'm thinking? I listened to him for 40 min then backed out. He was moving on a hillside raking a few trees. No chuckles, or grunts.

It means don't get too close and blow him out of the country!!

lol, I stayed way away undetected across a draw. Also the whole hillside I was on was tracked up! Going to keep my distance from there for sure.

I heard one more bull tonight. Getting excited!
-
Your getting me excited too. 3 more days!!
-
Good Luck! Shoot straight!
-
Sled... Why'd you drive all the way out there when we have elk right here in Lake Stevens now? LOL :chuckle: :chuckle
Just kidding... Good luck buddy!!!
-
Been pretty quiet last two days. No more smoke from the fire yesterday. Been real warm out.
-
That's all about to change...
-
Had two Bulls talking tonight!
-
Forgot to mention that the furnace in the trailer won't light! Ugh!
-
Make sure you wait long enough for the air to clear from the lines.

ive been trying to get it going since Sunday. It lit once now nothing..
-
Thermocouple maybe? Easy to change an inexpensive
-
Run down or call Whispering Pines RV in Cle Elum the repair guy can fix almost anything. They also charge just 10.00 a night to dry camp. Way cheap for showers and restrooms.
-
Good luck!

thanks!

All you have to do is clean out the thermal coupler... It's actually REALLY easy. Do you have access to air? If so, just blow it out... If not, you can clean it with a piece of wire. It's the same principle as a clogged jet in a carburetor. It's located just before the pilot light. Call me and I can trouble shoot it with you...

. I'll call you in the morning. It's screwed. Can't get to it from the outside, it's mounted under the bunk. It's only three years old. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Pm your number not sure if I still have it.

Being cold will just make you get out of bed earlier!
Good luck, I will be just over the ridge on 410 side if you need help

thanks! Listened to one of the Bulls I heard last night again this morning. Same two Bulls have been hanging in the same areas.
-
Good luck this weekend I may go on a road trip and come find you.
-
Get after it we need a good story. Thanks for sharing.
-
Nice sunset to finish off the night. Same two Bulls in the same spot sounding off tonight.
-
Next pic you post better be a BBD......just sayin.....
-
Good luck, looks like you are going to get a weather change on Friday night. Hope the Bulls stay put and are ready to play Saturday morning.
-
if you need help packing I can be there in just over 2 hours.

That new of a trailer shoukd have intermittent spark ignition
So no pilot light or thermocouple. Probably has a flame sensor
Same principle but cleaning them rarely works. It usually needs replacement.
Cheap part if you can get to it.
-
Had one bull move on me this morning. I'll be in there tomorrow. Saw two spikes today, and a two pt, and a cow. Also shot a grouse.
-

. There's been two Bulls hanging out where you suggested.
-
Good luck today, they wont go far.
-
Passed on a 3 pt today, and a 3x4 buck because I had a bull bugling at the time. Damn should have taken the buck. The Bulls were screaming this morning.
-
Good luck
-
Update, sled!!
-
:yeah:
-
Sorry guys been busy. I messed up yesterday and missed a big one yesterday. Clean miss would have been bull of a lifetime. Passed up on a 4 pt bull this morning. They have stopped bugling around here now. Sure it's the pressure. Got a tip from coach tonight that I'm going in on a 6x6 in the morning. Keep your fingers crossed!
Funny how when you get up here in the woods you have all the time in the world with nothing to do and I can't even keep up with updates. The first two mornings Bulls were absolutely screaming up here. Good time for sure.
-
Haven't heard a single bugle in 121 but have been in elk every day
-
I bet they are not done screaming yet
-
Keep at it sled!
-
Tough day today with only two does spotted. Back at it at 5:30 in the morn.
-
Good luck bud. You got this
-
Today was pretty miserable. Rained most last night and almost all day. I did spot a nice little buck and a couple does. Seems the elk have scrambled!
The pic is the buck. Hard to tell.
-
Keep stepping pal you can get it done.
-
PM sent

Good luck Sled! Seems to me there is always a lull after the first few days of hunting due to the pressure then as the week goes on and pressure decreases things rebound a bit towards the end. Give 'em hell! We're pulling for you!

9 miles on the boots so far without a fresh track. Did see 11 does. Pouring down rain again. Hunkered down under a tree for a bit.
-
Ending total 11.2 miles and almost soaked to the bone! Drying clothes now. Vegetable beef soup, bed, back at it in the morn!
-
I'm pulling for ya sled!!
I know those spirits get pulled down as time goes on. Keep that head up and keep pressing on, sounds like you're enjoying and having a heck of a hunt.

There is blood!
:whoo: :cue:
-
Lol, buglebuster is a :stirthepot:. There is blood! As I was feeling desperate this afternoon I decide to take a buck. Once again thanks so much to a member unamed for saving me a lot of work as it was tough enough. Good people on here willing to help out. Anyways after going on a tip with no results I scored on this guy. Happy as heck! No back after the Bulls in the morn!
-
Nice! There you go Sled!!!!! Did you ever get your furnace going? Was it what we talked about? Seeing you score has my blood going! I can't wait, We're going late archery for deer and elk...
-
That thing is awesome, and ugly! :chuckle:

. Still no furnace.
-
Whoa that's a goofy one! Congrats!!
-
That thing is awesome, and ugly! :chuckle:
. I think he may have been an older buck. Big body. The fat on him was unreal! He was with a 2pt and 7 does. It's weird but seems they are chasing does already from others I've talked to. This is the third legal buck I've seen. Had to take him at 20 yards.
-
Really??? That's a bummer... We'll, im sure you'll sleep all warm and cozy tonight!!
-
Sweet buck. Very unique. Congrats
-
Meat in the freezer!!! Good work!
-
Congrats, nice buck. Good luck tomorrow.
-
Today I went after a lead on a couple Bulls. Needed up fogged in but before I got there a couple other guys said they saw about 20 cows, a few Bulls, and a spike down there. Ugh. I don't have much time or energy left! Did push an elk out of the brush but never saw it today.
-
dig deep, you got this .......pot of coffee if need be buddy.
-
Good luck, we will be pulling out in the morning
-
Keep at it. I think I know where your at. Go a little higher. My buddy's had cow tags there and where into elk everyday but SW of you and deeper country. Good luck.
-
Good luck, we will be pulling out in the morning

-
Damn it's raining hard!
-
Who want to go out a shut off the generator?, guess it's me!
-
Suck it up butter cup
-
Coach is right man. He's still right there. Hunt smart but be aggressive! You have nothing to lose! If it's raining as hard there as it is here tomorrow will suck! :sry: :chuckle:
-
Yep, that is your best shot at this point. I'm sure he is still there with his cow and calf. If you knock him down, I will be there with help to get him out. It will be easy, all down hill. Go get him Sled, we are pulling for you. The last day can be epic!!!
-
Any news?
-
:yeah: :dunno:

Any news?
I was wondering the same, hope he's packing out a whopper...

I've been hoping for the best all day! He's definitely put in the time!

I hunted out of camp this morning, found a st of tracks and followed them until the bull that made them jumped up from its bed in the grass and dropped into a steep canyon. Followed them for as long as I could. Then packed up camp and headed low to hunt until dark, ran into ellensburg to pick up my deer at the cooler, then hauled ass for home. Made it before my daughter went to bed and was greated with elephant tears for a few minutes. I'm beat and will finish out the story in the morning.
-
The best way to leave a mountain is leaving all you have there. The bull is just a consolation. You definitely earned respect for doing what most won't.
-
way to give it hell
-
Best of luck
-
Way to stick it out to the end. We're I was there were 5 observatory quality elk tag holders that packed up on Sunday morning and 1 that left on Saturday morning.

I have totally enjoyed following along with this story, I tell younger hunters to check out this web page that the people on here are great, and again it is not disappointing, Sled one hell of a story, cant wait to hear more......
-
I'm sorry, busy unpacking and dealing with my deer today. I'll try to write more of a story tomorrow. I have many to thank for this hunt for pms, and pack out help! This is an awsome site and believe that I karma came back for helping others even though I didn't get a bull. I accomplished and failed in my goals on this hunt.

You left it all on the mountain man, and hunted till the end. There is no failure in that. Quality tags in general season units are tough. The tags themselves put a lot of pressure on a guy. I just hope you had fun
