Big first week of hunting for my pup - Cooke Canyon to start it off and the westside pheasant opener to finish it. Not that I doubted her, but she did much better than I expected, even holding steady to flush on the Cooke Canyon birds. The cover and conditions on the westside were a bit tougher but she still managed to find two birds, of which I only connected with one... Guess I should have done a little training with the gun over the off season! :chuckle:
Very cool seeing it all start to come together for her though and it sure makes all the time spent training, driving to pick up birds, vet bills (and we've had a couple big ones already...) totally worth it! A few more weeks and we'll get out and hunt some wild birds and start in on the waterfowl work.

Nice post Aaron.

Thanks Terry! We'll have to hook up for a duck hunt or something this winter, I could use some pointers on trying to keep this girl still in a blind!

Beautiful pics

Don't worry about missing some, the biggest thing is to not shoot it if your dog does not point it.
Good looking dog. I also have a bearded dog

My dude is kind of a PITA in the duck blind, (wrong breeding for the chill side of things, I wouldn't be much help there) but we can definitely hook up and stone some feathers sometime
