Title: Sight in Question?

If my 270 WSM is sighted in with 140 grain and I switch to 150 grain will the gun shoot that much different? Or will it be close enough not to matter. I don't ever see myself taking any shots farther than 300 yards.

You could easily be off target at 300 yards or worse make a wounding shot by not knowing your zero. If you want to switch bullets you should spend some time over a bench before you hunt - IMO.

Post by: Bill W on October 05, 2016, 09:13:21 AM: It has nothing to do with trajectory or bullet weight but the fact that the different weight bullet will have different barrel harmonics. Harmonic vibration is what affects where the barrel is pointing at the moment the bullet exits the barrel. That's when trajectory and bullet weight come into play.
