Beautiful pic Bean. I have always wanted to get a shot like that in the narrows. Every time that I have been in there, it's crawling with people.
-
thanks! These places are only going to get busier as the internets make them a hallmark of tourism. The body count slows down once you get past Wall Street. By the time I reached these hanging gardens I was the only person left and had it all to myself, except for the occasional small group who were doing point-to-point.
One other thing to keep in mind is that you don't necessarily have to have all people removed from your frame, just enough so that the remaining hajj are in constant motion. The closer to the entrance you are the more likely people are screwing around in one place and not just hiking through. If you have 2-3+ second exposure you not only get that nice silky water effect but you'll also keep people from painting the sensor too long in any one place and they may either disappear completely or be easily cloned out if they're in the distance. If you're shooting UWA on a FF to get the emphasis on foreground it becomes a lot easier as the background shrinks. I shot most of my photos at 16mm as that's the widest I could go and next time I want to go back with a 14mm.

National Palace Museum. Taipei, Taiwan.
Some of these artifacts are 3-5,000 years old.The imperial jade cabbage sculpture is worth millions because of its purity--being high contrast from dark to light (as opposed cheaper, monotone jade) as well as intricate carving. I image with all the thousands of rockets the mainland has pointed at the island that this spot is not targeted :chuckle: Some heads must have literally rolled when the disgusting liberal Mao Zedong found out that Chang Kai Shek and the Nationalists managed to steal most all the national treasure when fleeing the mainland 70 years ago.

An up close view of the Teton range near Jackson Hole, WY. Picture was taken from the climber's ranch bunk house the first day of our climb.
