So back down the road to mess with the LEO's party to inform them there was an accident and they might want to do a 50 foot grid search for a victims in case they were ejected from the truck. They were very nice about abandoning their project for their public safety responsibility. I kind of felt bad as there is a real need in this area to catch these poachers. I have personally seen two deer with their heads taken off and the rest left to rot.

Absolutely a trap. It was on private land and more then likely the person would be shooting from the road due to lack of shoulder space. Wardens we're right around the corner!

Nor are the sides of such roads. Legal to shoot in my book. And always have. Saw a guy once on weyerhauser road once shoot a deer, while standing next to the warden. All he said was good shot.

I believe the key word in the law is "negligently". It says something about how it is unlawful to negligently shoot from a road. Of course my definition of negligence might be different than a warden's definition. Could be a gray area.This is correct. You can now shoot from the road, across the road as long as you don't do it "negligently". That is all open to the wardens interpretation.
Side note, it only applies to modern firearm, they left archery out of the new description so it is still illegal to shoot from the road, the maintained portion of the side of the road or across the road.

It's illegal to shoot from roads on National Forest land, regardless of what the state law says. There is a federal law that applies to shooting from forest service roads.
I can't imagine the number of tickets given out to grouse hunters then... Not the true, die-hard grouse type, so you people, don't get offended.

If they are breaking rules to get to game animals then yes they are poachers. They are stealing opportunity from everyone that follows the rules.
