Title: GMU 342 Umtanum Muzzy Season
Post by: TriggerMike on October 21, 2016, 09:52:30 AM: Did anyone hunt 342 this season for muzzleloader? We didn't hunt it for the first time in 10 years. I'm curious what the elk and hunter numbers were like with the cold and wet weather since they've been pretty bad the last few years. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to respond publicly.

Post by: PlateauNDN on October 21, 2016, 01:48:49 PM: Yup, wolves and Indians got them all, don't come here. :chuckle: in the great adventure story "the two towers" we had chased elk in there so to say there is no elk is questionable. Archers we ran into laid out a nice bull.

They were not successful. The fires late in the season didn't help. They started off camping at BBQ flats,..... and so did 35 other rigs.... They then moved up the Bald Mountain road.

All they saw were a bazillion other hunters running around on quads,....

Are quads even legal anywhere up there? :dunno:

Post by: The Gobble-stopper on October 25, 2016, 10:50:52 AM: I took my girlfriends father and brother up there for 10 days. Of course I was only there for guidance and bear. I was the one seeing elk. But not many. Had two spikes opening day, then each day a couple cows for the next 4 days. Then nothing.. It was the slowest I have ever seen. More hunters carrying sheds then anything. I only know of one bull and one cow being taken.

Not much better in the Nile though. Lots of sign but no love.
