Too tired to write anything when I got back so I just posted the pictures. We hunted very hard for these deer and put a lot of miles on our boots climbing to the top of ridgetops and back down again over and over looking for sign. We all had multiple opportunities but the inclement weather made it difficult to see the animals well enough to shoot half the time. My buddy shot his dear on A ridge top after a two hour march to a meeting point. He shot the deer less than 100 yards from me and I didn't know he was there. After a 10 minute stare down with a buck on the third night, two hours from camp, I decided not to shoot. He was staring right at me and would not turn his head so I could count his points even though obviously he was of great size. When he did turn his head I saw more points than I could count but I'm happy I did not take the shot, he was moving pretty fast and light was fading. The next day I went through the same drainage hunting the fresh sign and spotted a half a dozen doe, looked for the buck found him up above them. They were at about 100 yards. I pulled my shooting stick out to steady the shot on him and as I did it he decided to start following The does so I threw it on the ground and pulled up and shot. He went face down in 5 feet and did not move. We quartered out and packed out same day. Both deer too far to get out whole. The meat taste great. Good to have friends to help with the heavy lifting.
Cant wait till next year. Enjoyed everyone we met if you recognize us. Keep in touch.

Congratulations on a great season. Looks like you took home a lot of good meat and good memories from deer camp. Way to go.

I hunted the last 2 years with my 15 year old daughter who killed her first deer last year. She's in running start this year and couldn't miss classes. I really missed having her there. It goes by fast. Hope to hunt with her again soon.
