We had a spike run through the front of our property Sunday morning acting goofy. I ask my youngest son if he wanted to put a camera and the blind outback after church? We checked the camera yesterday after school and had the spike at 8pm Sunday and a big 3x3 at 6am Monday and does all day long. My 12 year old and I sat in the blind til dark with no action. My son see's the buck after school with 2 does. He calls me at 3pm to tell me. At this time, I'm in Bremerton and live in Eatonville. Bomb toward home grab my 8 year old at daycare and head for the house. 4:35 the 12 year old puts the hammer down on a beautiful mature 3x3 Blacktail. He was a little excited and the first shot hit high but dropped the buck. He kept his composure and put a 2nd shot right through his heart. After his misfire on a giant 3 point out in a clearcut on Friday that crushed us, this was a nice way to finish his season.

Brute of a buck! Congrats!

Way to get it done kid and stay persistant even after the missed buck days earlier. Beautiful buck!!

Great ending to a frustrating start. Last year my buddy and I were elk hunting at the coast. He pulled the trigger on a 5x5 and click. The firing pin hit as hard as on any other round but it did not go bang. He brushed it off and said "that elk was not meant to die by me." A much better reaction than I would have had. Again, great job kid.

Body is really big. Wondering how much meat you'll pull off him

Yep. A little strange because he is not all that swollen up and he is barely stinky but he was sticking with one doe just waiting I guess.

What a Dandy Buck!!!
Also,
If I may, GREAT PICTURES! I'm always a bit puzzled how or why anyone would pose with a wonderful buck and have a look on their face like they just found out the IRS is repossessing their homes.
Tell those kids I'm truly Impressed by that buck and their composure.
-
Right on, hell of a first buck. Hell of a buck period.
The moose burger was excellent by the way.

It wasn't without it's challenges. I wanted to keep taking pictures to make sure they were good. He was getting tired of holding his head up and wanted to be done. I had to tell him that he only kills his first buck once and after the skinning starts we will never get the chance to take these pictures again, so let's make them count. After that he was a trooper and took some great pictures.
Thanks everyone for all the kind comments, both he and I appreciate them.
