Title: Any birds flying yet?
Post by: huntsman_trev on November 04, 2016, 11:31:26 PM
I'm in the Enumclaw area and there's nothing flyin. They'd usually be here by now. Needs to get colder I guess! How are the birds where you guys live?

I've seen quite a few birds around, but they are loafing in spots you can't get to them. That farm next to Emerald Downs, on the Hylebos Waterway by the E street bridge, etc. It'll happen; rainy and windy this morning, feathers will be headed your way shortly...

Plenty of wigeon if you know where to look.  Other than that, you are scratching out the few resident birds that have figured out not to be moving around after daylight.

Very slow here for migrators.   Hope they hurry up because my trigger finger is itching.

I'm seeing more geese, but it's pretty slow on ducks.

My weekend would have been a lot better if the guys behind us didn't shoot or call as our birds were cupping . I know it was on purpose to mess with us.

We had good shooting this weekend.  Those that were able to get out and scout, were rewarded for it.

Wirehair. Drahthaar, which is really the same critter, is bred in Europe. Kinda like the differance between me and a Canadian. Just where you be from

Its been slow in one of my local haunts, a few greened and a few ringers but for the most part no new birds moving through my areas i hunt and the few that are on the lake are pretty skittish. I drove over towards the coast for a duck hunt this morning to see what was going on over there and... Saw one teal, bagged one teal. For ducks that was it, saw tons of geese but it was closed so i ignored them. I was surprised at how dead it was out there absolutely nothing flying today. But as i always say theres always tomorrow

Then once someone gets that honey hole spotted especially on private shy away those big flocks of ducks and get rewarded with aces and deuces that come back from the flock being broken up. Decoy easier and can get multiple days of good hunting.  Too many times have seen many good spots get destroyed in a morning when hunters live today die tomorrow unload on big flocks once in questionable range to only get a few and the other ducks never return wondering why the next morning is poor hunting.

I have a drahthaar and there is more to the difference then that.
