Title: Daughters first elk
Post by: hornhunter1987 on November 06, 2016, 06:38:00 PM
My 11 year old daughter was able to fill her cow tag! Ive had such a blast hunting with her the last few years. Hunting with kids is such a thrill. I swear I get more excited then she does. I couldn't be prouder!!!

That's Awesome! I always enjoyed the hunt more when one of my kids was making it happen. I will never forget those times and the excitement of them harvesting an animal.

Thanks everyone! She is amazed by the responses from everyone. Hunting with kids is so important. Getting them in the woods at all is great but I also feel like they can be easily "ruined" too. I think it is very crucial to stay positive and calm when hunting with youths. she missed a elk on Saturday but I never got frustrated with her. Just calmly talked about what we both could do better next time. I have four more daughters that all show a interest in hunting and I can't wait till there of age. I foresee my trigger time being cut back to almost none......... but I'm alright with that.

:yike: 4 more?!?  I see your wallet and hairline going the same way as your trigger time!  :chuckle: Just kidding, congrats to the young lady and you for getting her out there and teaching her.

that's awesome for her to have someone to pass down this knowledge. I'm still struggling as a self taught hunter 3 years in. Good for her and good for you for sacrificing your trigger time for the sake of mentoring.
