Title: President Elect's Position Paper on the 2nd Amendment
Post by: pianoman9701 on November 10, 2016, 07:42:12 AM
His statement is pretty clear. He's not messing with our guns, magazines, or ammo.

“The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period,” the position paper began.
Trump went on to explain that the right to keep and bear arms is a right that pre-exists both the government and the Constitution, noting that government didn’t create the right, nor can it take it away.
He also rightly denoted the Second Amendment as “America’s first freedom,” pointing out that it helps protect all of the other rights we hold dear."

One of the most significant differences between Trump and Clinton, who would attack the 2nd amendment directly, and indirectly through the appointment of liberal justices. I am constantly amazed that four of the nine justices in the Heller v Washington DC case believed that citizens do not have an individual right to bear arms.

I really think that this is the one issue that pushed him over the top in the election.

I think most were not happy with either candidate but the one thing that matters to so many people that voted for Trump is the right to bear arms.  I think those people came out of the woodwork and elected him president.

I know for me that and the appointment of Supreme Court justices was most important and I trust Trump to be more in line with my thinking on both of those items.

He doesn't have the power to remove revenue. That needs to be done by Congress or SCOTUS. He also can't repeal laws that were passed by Congress. Only the Congress or SCOTUS have that power.

It's definitely not like canceling out executive orders that can be done with the stroke of a pen. I think I read about it in his plan for the first 100 days... maybee I read it wrong.

I'm sure with an entirely Republican Congress, he'll have people who sponsor bills for him.

I think that it's already in the works.
