				Grocery store spice aisle.  Most sage there is "rubbed".  I think it's how the leaf was broken down versus being whole leaf.

				I think ground sage looks like a powder (think cinnamon), where rubbed sage may have some leaf and stem pieces in it.

				I don't think I've ever seen ground sage. It's always been rubbed   :dunno:

 Difference between rubbed sage and ground
 
 
 
 Ground sage is made by grinding the entire leaf into a fine powder like any powdered herb. Rubbed sage is made by rubbing dried whole sage leaves to create a light and fluffy mix. Rubbed sage is lighter and less concentrated so a teaspoon of rubbed sage will be less intense than a teaspoon of ground sage.

				Just found it at Fred Meyers. Both in bulk and in small jars. They only had rubbed.

				Rubbed does have stems in it for sure. We used to make a sage breakfast sausage and we would buy in huge quantities of the rubbed, I hated it because I had to pick out all the damn sticks so nobody would get a nice sharp one to the gums !
