If you are bored and on the wet side of the state...
The perch in Lake Washington are schooled up pretty well between 60 and 80 feet. Not too hard to get decent sized fish this time of year.
-
Thanks. What are you using for bait?

Works work well, but if you get tired of dealing with them some days slivers of perch meat or small jigs can be just as good.
-
That should have been 'worms' work well.
-
I keep saying I need to target perch in the local lakes. I catch them incidentally from time to time.

Winter is definitely the time to do it. I bailed out on jigs years ago, as they take too long to get down 50-60 feet. Spoons with droppers kick ass. Chunk of worm until you get a fish, then small strips of perch meat, skin on, as they last a while on the hook.

Those look cool. Where do you get them?

fishusa.com, although you can make something similar pretty easily. Heavy spoon (think kastmaster, not needlefish) with a short piece of line, wire, chain down to the hook. Drop them down and whack the bottom a few times, then bring up a foot or so. Some times they like a little shake or a jig.

Northland also has some good spoons, and sells dropper chains with hooks.
-
Don't forget the Swedish pimple! I use it as a weight and set up a drop shot rig. Always tip the pimple with bait.
Am wondering if any one has fished Stevens for perch in the winter?

I gotta find a dock to go cast off of. Perch are pretty tasty.
-
How long are those jigging spoons?
-
On lakes where chumming is legal, we have had good success punching holes in a can of cat food or tuna and weighting it and sinking it below the boat. Give the line a yank every once in a while. Seem to keep the school around. A mesh bag of chopped up fish scraps works even better.

How long are those jigging spoons?
1 1/2" - 2" , not including dropper.
-
I might have to dig through my spoon boxes and see what I have that would work for perch.
-
The eye of a Perch is also a great bait to use. :IBCOOL:

Anything heavy and straight. Any curve causes a flutter and slows the drop. Part of the key to keeping a school is keeping bait down there.

So are anybody catching any? If you are where? East side or west side?
Lets see some pictures of them.
