Title: Less ducks this season?
Post by: CP on November 29, 2016, 06:50:06 AM
Is it just me or are there considerably less ducks in Snohomish , Skagit and Whatcom than what we have had in previous seasons?

With weather like this, why would they migrate south. We need winter to get here, this spring like weather is not helping.

We haven't had any freezing temperatures.

I don't think so.  Been lots of ducks and geese in Skagit Valley.  Just so much water everywhere they are spread out.  I am seeing them in most of the normal fields.

Been plenty of birds here in SW part of the state. Many have even moved on south. Three times already this month I have heard large groups of wigeon headed south, about 7pm while out doing chores. Lots of water around, so birds will sptead out. Hint, good hard freeze, be on the rivers or salt flats.

Water everywhere.  Puddles are full and most are not frozen, at least until this week, even up north.

Moses Lake/Potholes is pretty empty as well.  Especially this late in the year and all the open water that we still have.  The birds that are around are extremely wary too.  Rough season so far.
