Title: Headed out for one final day
Post by: floatinghat on December 06, 2016, 09:53:37 PM
Wish me luck guys

I am blowing out about 3-3:30am for my final hunt of 2016.  I got the hall pass and was hoping to head out this afternoon, but work delayed my departure.  Looking at 2016, I think it was a great season even if I am still sitting on my tag.  I got to stalk two bulls early muzzy opening weekend (I got busted), let the some other bulls rest as I couldn't get in position to put on a stalk.  Spent time in some beautiful country even if we got rained on almost daily.  Got to meet other silly people who go deeper than might make sense.

Late season opener, I saw 15 cows, one bull with 20 mins of legal light and a clear cut and driving rain between us.  I couldn't range him so I didn't take the shot 150 -175ish  range finder and binos were too fogged.  I covered almost 19miles by boot and bike that day spent the afternoon in a heavy rain with light rain gear (not a good combo).   If I don't get anything tomorrow, I can look to 17 with anticipation and energy, 80% thinks I am switching to archery for 2017.  I have knee surgery on Tues so should have plenty of time to get in shape and keep getting well off the beaten path.
