This is a great concept that Jeff Sposito has helped pioneer.  Even if you aren't interested as an individual, it's worth looking at what businesses are involved in this when it comes time to spend your money.

Here is another called One Percent for the Planet.  This was started 10 years ago by the founder of Patagonia and Craig Matthews of Blue Ribbon Flies in Montana.  There are over 1,200 businesses enrolled and over $100MM given to conservation.
